Part of the ongoing series A Study in Colour, these works were created for Cherelle’s solo, Among Other Things at Phoenix Gallery, Exeter in 2020. These ‘little nuggets of abstract flesh’ are created sporadically, drawing on a collection of small hand-cut pieces of magazines collected over the years. These small studies often end up forming larger printed works. This artwork is a companion piece to Logics, 2020 (currently on display at Fort Road Hotel, Margate) and considers the systems by which the epidermal is categorised and compared, harking back to colonial anthropological practices.

Collage on paper, 21 x 21 cm.

Framed in Walnut, dimensions: 23 x 23 x 3.5 cm and fixed on the rear with hanging wire ready to be hung. All works come with a personalised note and certificate of authenticity.
